aaduna supports NAACP and MLK, Jr. Celebrations

bill berry, jr. and Lisa A. Brennan represented the aaduna community of writers and artists at the 14th Annual NAACP Auburn/Cayuga Branch Martin Luther King Jr. Millennium Luncheon convened on January 23, 2013 at the Sunset Restaurant in Auburn.  Five individuals were recognized and awarded for their service and dedication to the needs of the community.  Eli Hernandez, president of this local chapter, serves on the aaduna Board of Directors.
Lisa and bill also attended "A Legacy Fulfilled - A Dream Celebrated," which was The 38th Annual City-Wide Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration convened at The Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Auburn.  The mayor of Auburn, the City's school superintendent and a variety of other community leaders attended the ecumenical service, which also raised funds for a local graduating high school senior scholarship program.  Rev. Paul Gordon Carter, Pastor of Thompson Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, delivered excerpts from Dr. King's memorable ''I Have A Dream" speech as part of the program.          
aaduna is partnering with Thompson Memorial to premier  "Feeding off of the North Star," an original collection of poems written and read by poet Cyd Charisse Fulton to recognize and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Harriet Tubman's Passing on March 10, 2013 at 3 PM at Thompson Memorial.  Tubman passed away on March 10, 1913 in Auburn and is buried in the City's Fort Hill Cemetery.  Thompson Memorial is a descendant of the original church that Tubman worshipped at.
