Reeling with emotions…profound and unexpected sadness

For the past few weeks including this week, we have been caught up with all the various phases connected with launching an issue from receiving edited content to preparing the galleries to writing the sections associated with any issue. And then, our world abruptly changed.

DeJuan Antonio Clark, Sr., a.k.a. Persecution Avenue (photo provided)

DeJuan Antonio Clark, Sr. better known to his legion of literary fans and readers as ‘Persecution Avenue’ passed away on December 14, 2016 from pneumonia while quietly, privately, and courageously battling a terminal illness. A 2016 Pushcart Prize nominee for fiction, in his remembrance and honor, I invite you to read my “conversation” with him available at

In addition, we plan to dedicate the forthcoming aaduna issue in his name. If you knew him, enjoyed his writings, or want to express sentiments, please send those thoughts to me via info@aaduna.org (subject line: P Ave) no later than Sunday, December 18, 2016. Depending on space and any editing, I may include your remembrances in my Publisher’s Message.

Thanks. Be safe. AND Hold close to your heart those folks who are significant to you.
