To and For Us, A New Opportunity for Emerging Artists

We exist in a global community.  Our spirit is skewed towards sharing various creative opportunities regardless of geographical location.  Why?  Because you never know who might see a “share” or receive an e-blast message where the recipient knows somebody, who knows somebody, who knows somebody….

More importantly, in our world, knowing what cultural institutions are doing to expand the visual, performing, and historical arts is important to us.  Our global community is distant yet local.  International yet community-based….

So, here is the necessary information regarding a new exhibition opportunity for visual artists, and please share to your contacts.  Any questions should be sent directly to the museum.

The Cayuga Museum located at 203 Genesee Street in Auburn, New York, USA is hosting a brand new series of rotating art exhibits in 2018.  The series is designed to be a showcase of different emerging artists from central New York, and the museum is looking for a variety of styles.

The series will feature a different artist each month, from March – December, with an opening reception on the third Thursday of each month.
The first reception will be on Thursday, March 15 at the Cayuga Museum, located at 203 Genesee Street, Auburn, NY 13021.
The reception(s) will be held from 5:30-7:30pm.

The museum will be accepting submissions of two dimensional artworks and sculpture from artists in the central New York area. Artists must be within driving distance of Auburn, work will not be accepted via mail.  The museum will not accept submissions of video installations.
Artists are asked to submit up to 5 works of art that are representative of their body of work.  Selected artists must have enough work to fill 465 square feet of gallery space.
If you would like to submit your work for consideration, please email the following information to  no later than Friday, December 29:
1-3 digital images per work submitted
(you may submit up to 5 pieces, or series of works, to be considered)
Dimensions of your work (each piece)
Title(s) of your work
Your email and phone number
An artist statement describing the body of work

A local selection committee will be responsible for selecting the artists/artworks for this project.
The Cayuga Museum seeks to have a well-balanced and diverse series of artists, working in a variety of styles and mediums. All artwork must be finished works and ready to be installed. The committee will make selections for the full series in early January, with nine slots available.

Work must be dropped off at the Cayuga Museum one week before the show is set to open.  Artist(s) must schedule the drop off with Museum staff, allowing time for consultation of layout and installation requirements.

Work must be picked up within a week of the show closing.
The museum will not handle any transactions.  However you may sell art at the reception or leave your contact information with museum staff to facilitate your connect with a buyer. Any sold works may not be picked up by the buyer until after the exhibit has ended.

Please contact Kirsten at with any questions.
Please do not call the museum.   Use e-mail.  Thanks.

This exhibition opportunity is a Cayuga Museum of History & Art programmatic activity.
