Harlem will Swing!
Late last year, aaduna, Inc. received a capacity building
grant from the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses [clmp] and the New
York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to position the company to host two
fundraisers this spring. (Harlem, NY on May 18th and Auburn, NY on May 29th) In re-creating
the style and ambiance of the Harlem Renaissance where supporters and fans
intermingled to hear creative works and engage the artists, aaduna contributing poets, writers, guest
readers, jazz and hip/hop musicians will perform at Bill’s Place on the fabled
West 133rd Street in Harlem, New York on Sunday, May 18th. The event is now SOLD OUT. On the 19th, Harlem
will swing to words and notes that will reverberate throughout the neighborhood
and enrich the hearts and minds of participants.
Dont be sad! For those in the upstate NY area (or willing to travel) you can buy tickets now to attend aaduna's second scheduled event On May 29th at 7 PM in Theater Mack inAuburn , New York , where a different
set of aaduna contributors, guest
poets, and jazz trio will set the Harlem
renaissance mood for listening, sharing, conversation, and networking. If you are in the area, please join us. Tickets are $10 in advance and available via www.aaduna.org/support-us
