Relevancy or Wisdom

I routinely wonder, as I venture through my creative endeavors and community/social justice activities, is it more important to be relevant or wise.

Now, I am sure some folks will say the two go hand in hand, but practical worldwide situations tend to suggest just the opposite. Folks in power and the “lumpen proletariat” (remember that phrase from back in the day?) both play and acquiesce to a certain pre-described base of communal support or pre-determined way of social/political/economic/cultural/religious thinking, and then there are some individual who stand afar and consequentially “out.”

Those independents or possibly self-described libertarians, regardless of constituent groupings, try to speak a common sense or unfettered profound wisdom that does not necessarily conform to the thinking or opinions of one group over another. And then, maybe, there is nothing sacred left in the world that prompts all of humanity to agree…. Relevancy and wisdom may be disjointed for the foreseeable future. Enter the fray…

Ms. Mishcon is a writer, poet and intellectual provocateur (my description and not necessarily hers as far as the “provoking” designation) whose short story in the pending issue of aaduna suggests themes of relevancy and wisdom, and the dilemmas that either term can bring to bear on human attitudes and feelings.

Now, a snippet may be appropriate to underpin my thoughts, but I will just share the title, and then you can let your mind wander as to the possibilities of relevancy and wisdom that her title may imply. Her work is simply called “The Wolves.”

After reading Mishcon’s story, you can then decide whether there are nuances of relevancy and wisdom that weave in and out of her story. I suspect aaduna, at its core, may be a quasi-interactive vehicle for individual or group reflection and discourse.

You’ll see and witness this state of debatable affairs in a few days.
