aaduna, Inc receives another grant!
Christmas and Kwanzaa came early for aaduna, Inc. the
non-profit and 501(c) (3) tax-exempt entity that publishes aaduna. The Council on
Literary Magazines and Presses (known as clmp) in partnership with the New York State Council
on the Arts (NYSCA) offered the New York State Literary Publishers Capacity
Fund maximum grant award to assist aaduna in fundraising costs for
2014. Interestingly, aaduna Inc.’s grant
application did not seek the maximum award.
aaduna received the clmp notification the week before Christmas. Trisha Low, CLMP Director of Membership and
Development stated, “We are very pleased to be able to offer you this award, to recognize your contribution to the literary arts, and to wish you the very best in your ongoing publishing endeavors.”
Understanding the need to create a platform of sustainability, aaduna, Inc. will initiate two , fund- and friend-raising activities this coming spring. These events will occur in New York City and Auburn, NY and seek to replicate the ambiance of “parlor room readings and recitals” most notably connected to the cultural scene during the Harlem Renaissance. With readings by poets and writers, live jazz music, food and beverage supplemented by contemporary silent auctions and raffles, aaduna, Inc. plans to provide a rich atmosphere for dialogue between artists and the audience, as well as use these events to spearhead other fundraising activities. Stay tuned for announcements and event details in the coming weeks.
And if you do not live in New York City or Auburn, NY but wish to support aaduna's sustainability, please contact bill berry via bill@aaduna.org. No gift is too small or too large. Join the effort to maintain aaduna's vibrancy and ability to provide a platform for writers and artists.
