Going in Circles
I'm an ever spinning top, whirling around till I drop
Oh but what am I to do, my mind is in a whirlpool
Give me a little hope, one small thing to cling to
Oh but what am I to do, my mind is in a whirlpool
Give me a little hope, one small thing to cling to
You got me going in circles (oh
round and round I go)
You got me going in circles
(Oh round and round I go, I'm spun out over you)
You got me going in circles
(Oh round and round I go, I'm spun out over you)
I'm a faceless clock, with timeless
hopes that never stop
Lord but I feel that way, of my soul, my soul is stay
Oh but what am I to do, my mind is in a whirlpool
Give me a little hope, one small thing to cling to
Lord but I feel that way, of my soul, my soul is stay
Oh but what am I to do, my mind is in a whirlpool
Give me a little hope, one small thing to cling to
You got me going in circles (oh
round and round I go)
You got me going in circles
(Oh round and round I go)
I'm spun out over you…*
You got me going in circles
(Oh round and round I go)
I'm spun out over you…*
Is this our ode to COVID-19, 51 years later?
Going in circles?
An ever rollin’ wheel?
Our mind in a whirlpool?
Find your “little hope, one small thing to cling to.”
Embrace it. Share it. Cling to it.
Individually.
Collectively.
Today, we cling to and celebrate Ron Van Nostrand, poet, writer, activist, publisher and musician with two of his poems.
Ronald C. Van Nostrand from West Niles, New York, County of Cayuga was raised in the foothills of the Adirondacks. He now resides near Owasco Lake for the last 44 years with his spouse, Toni. Ron has been a writer all his life and a worker towards peace and justice during that time.
This too
shall pass
They say
that 'this too shall pass-
One thing
I know is we will all be changed when and if it's ever over
Dynamics
will change
People
will change
Some of
those we know may be gone.
Other
things we have grown to know and love may disappear.
One thing
that won't change, though
Is there
will still be the same amount of Magik in the Earth as there has ever been
Flowers
will still bloom
Trees
will bud
Birds
will sing and the seasons will change
Now is
the time for the Peaceful Warrior to raise their head
Above the
gloom and doom and confront the biggest enemy,
FEAR!

The PROPHET
He was cast up on a hillside and ministered to by angels who taught him of a
better life, far from the clattering clutter of the
people below.
And when his time was ready, he was sent back
among the people, to speak the truth and teach the law
and mark it with an O for the infinite eternity it is.
But when he placed his truth upon a lamp stand, to shine for all the
world below, arose a clamor among the people,
"Turn off that cursed light, we're trying to sleep."
