The Stillness of Silence

If you know Doo-Wop, you know The Five Satins’ “In the Still of the Night.”

If not, you know Garfunkel and Simon’s “The Sound of Silence.”

If not

In 2020 in the age of “19,” you know

The quiet

The stillness

The silence

You know how those characteristics are nuances of an invisible, predatory enemy not seen, or felt, or shaped.

You know the lack of sound that creates anxiety, apprehension and eventually fear.

You know the “Invisible Man.”

The stillness of silence used to be a refreshing, joyous, peaceful oasis in an overly hectic world.

In time, the stillness of silence will lose its insidious danger.

In time.

Spring Awakening 2020

We of Neanderthal ancestry
Within whom
Empathy for Mother Earth
Is deep and strong
Are few -
Yet, we persist.

Sapiens, hark!
Now
Mother Earth
Is talking directly to all of us
All of humanity
Neanderthal and Sapiens.

“You are all
Sharing
Great uncertainty
Listen
To the millennia of wisdom

Creation has shared with you:
It is human love that heals”.
